(1) The National anthem comprises of the first verse of the “Where is my home?” song by František Škroup and Josef Kajetán Tyl.
(2) The text and the sheet music of the National anthem are enclosed in the Annex 6 to this act.
The act No. 3/1993 was amended by the No.154/98 act in § 7 where the words “on libretto” were replaced by conjunction “and” and the Annex 6 has been altered by adding the sheet music of the National anthem.
The song originates in the play “Fidlovačka aneb Žádný hněv a žádná rvačka” (The Scraping or No anger and no skirmish) by Josef Kajetán Tyl put first on the stage in Prague on 21 December 1834. František Škroup composed accompanying music and singer Karel Strakatý performed the song for the first time. The song became popular soon and gained status of a real folk song. Therefore, Bohemia was the first country that adopted a theatre hit for its national anthem. However, the anthem consists of the first and slightly modified strophe of the song while the second one is now almost unknown.
